Dear Santa Sophia Academy Parents, Family and Friends, This week we begin re-registration and while our changes are minimal, the challenge this next year will be on giving hours to your school even above the 25 asked. Studies show that schools, where parents are more involved in the life of the school, giving time and talent, are among the best in every district, county, diocese, state, and nation! We wanted to pass on the information about the funeral for Mrs. Ethridge's husband, Gene.
There is a viewing on Wednesday, March 21, from 4-8pm at East County Mortuary.
The funeral will be at Santa Sophia Parish at 10 am on Thursday, March 22. We will all pray the rosary at 9:15 with Mrs. Ethridge and her family. The students will attend from grades 2-8.
Following the funeral, there will be the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery and then there will be a reception in the Hall. As soon as we are able we will provide a link to a site to sign up to help with food, flowers, set-up, serving, and clean-up and I invite you ALL to help us make this very special for Mrs. Ethridge.
Many of you have asked how can you help. Right now your help with the reception will lighten her days and worries. Also, should you want to write her a note or letter or card, we will happily deliver it to her. She has already commented on the seventh graders letters to her and how very meaningful they are (the other classes sent theirs yesterday and today) and how those sentiments have helped her. She also found joy in going to second grade on Tuesday to see her students and talking with them and giving and getting hugs. Please keep her in your prayers and May God bless her in this very difficult time. ... See MoreSee Less
Our wonderful second graders enjoyed a peace-filled Lenten retreat today using the words... "God is so generous that He gives us grace that we do not deserve, love that we cannot comprehend, and mercy that we cannot resist.
